Collision at US 50 near Dayton

DAYTON — A Dayton woman is facing felony charges stemming from a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 50.

On July 21 at 5:34 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the collision, about two miles west of Dayton. The driver of the at-fault vehicle, 21-year-old Heidi Shellenbarger of Dayton, was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center and released Friday.A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper placed her under arrest and transported her to the Lyon County Jail where she was booked on the following charges:

• Felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm

• Felony reckless driving

• Felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine)

• Misdemeanor failure to maintain a single travel lane

• Misdemeanor driving on a suspended driver license

• Misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear

The total bail on the charges is more than $60,000.

The Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this accident. Witnesses or anyone with additional information should contact the Trooper Chris Austin at 684-7380, regarding case No. NHP-1007210101.
